Karen Arthur often poses a thought-provoking question to her podcast guests on Menopause Whilst Black: “What do you do to celebrate yourself?” It’s such a great question – what can we do to celebrate where we are at?

One of the things I do to celebrate myself is to go out dancing (well “raving”) with my friends. I love to dance dance and dance some more. It keeps me grounded and it’s so much fun 🤩‼️

So. . . at the weekend a trip to see a ballet at Stratford East wasn’t what I had imagined (let’s just leave it there!!!). I left the theatre with my side-kick Dimples feeling a little jaded, however, the experience was totally compensated by a lovely bite to eat (my favourite pizza!) and a totally unexpected DJ set that I happened to spot when leaving the theatre!!

Hearing Tina Marie’s “Square Biz” was enough to engage my party spirit and I was off “hands in air” doing one of the things I love to do best. . .dancing the night away 🔥🔥🔥💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽 🥳🥳🥳🤩🤩🤩‼️ It was sooooo refreshing to join ladies of a certain age on the dance floor who didn’t have a care in the world except to reminisce about the good old days dancing to 80s and 90s grooves that touched our hearts. The DJ was a young guy who kept us all entertained along with his crew who knew how to strut their stuff too 😂🥳😂.

And the Soca was enough to even get Dimples on her feet despite nursing a painful back injury 😂😂😂😂. Something I totally wasn’t expecting 😂😂😂‼️‼️‼️

Bring it on I say and watch this space for more celebrating one’s self‼️💃🏽😂💃🏽😂
